Who We Are

VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC is a fee-only Registered Investment Adviser acting as a fiduciary, while providing investment and wealth management solutions to high net worth individuals, family trusts, non-profits, and qualified retirement plans.

VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC was established in 1992 to offer unbiased and unprejudiced advice to former brokerage firm clients without the conflicts of interest that exist within the brokerage industry.

Robert F. Mewshaw

President & Chief Investment Officer

Robert Mewshaw has spent the last 40 years in the Financial Services Industry. He has held the following positions; Registered Representative (Stockbroker), Associated Person (Commodity Broker), Branch Manager NYSE, General Securities Principal, State Securities Agent, Investment Adviser Representative.

He has been a member of the adjunct faculty of Loyola University as an Assistant Professor where he taught Investment Analysis. He has lectured in the Graduate school at his Alma Mater, The University of Baltimore. His duties include research, investment planning and portfolio construction.

Since 1992 he has been the President and Chief Investment Officer of VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC, Registered Investment Adviser, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Alexander F. Barron

Senior Investment Counsellor

Alexander F. Barron graduated from Tanenbaum College with a Bachelor of Arts in Talmudic Law, whereupon he continued another two years in graduate school in Advanced Talmudic Law.  He has worked for several member firms of the New York Stock Exchange working on both the Institutional and Retail sides of the Industry. He has held the following positions in the securities industry; Registered Representative, General Securities Principal, State Securities Agent, and Investment Adviser Representative.  He joined VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC. near its inception in 1992.  Alex has over 34 years’ experience as an investment professional. 

Alex’s areas of specialty encompass portfolio advisory that incorporates family wealth needs for retirement, educational, and financial planning.  He is also the fiduciary advisor for 401(k) and 403(b) retirement plans for businesses and non-profit organizations. 

Alex is a volunteer personal finance counselor with Mesila of Baltimore (a nonprofit organization which provides awareness and a path to financial stability for Baltimore families).  He also serves as a board member for Bnos Yisroel School of Baltimore.  He served as vice president for Shearith Israel Congregation (est. 1851), as well as a co-chairman of the multi-million dollar capital campaign.  He served as a board member for The Associated Shemesh organization -a community wide program providing special educational support for Jewish children with learning difficulties.  He was one of the founding board members, as well as an instructor for Ateris Tzvi College in Baltimore.  He is also a founding member and certified EMT with Hatzalah of Baltimore.

Alex, a Baltimore native, makes his home in the Cross Country neighborhood, with his wife Malka, and five children.

Bryan M. Thaler, BFA™

Senior Investment Counsellor & Assistant Investment Officer

Bryan M. Thaler, BFA™ graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1997. He began his career in 1997 as a Registered Representative (Stockbroker) for a member firm of the New York Stock Exchange. Bryan joined VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC in early 1998. He is responsible for helping families protect and grow their financial assets as well as providing assistance with various financial planning and estate planning techniques.

In 2019, Bryan completed the Behavioral Financial Advice Program earning the BFA™ designation. The BFA program integrates traditional finance practices with psychology and neuroscience to improve emotional competency and decision-making behavior.

Bryan previously volunteered for more than 20-years at Towson University. He most recently served as the chair for the Foundation’s investment committee (10/2012 – 10/2020), helping to oversee in-excess of $90 million in endowment and operating funds. These funds are used directly to help students, faculty and through various community grants. Bryan has also served in multiple executive volunteer roles at Towson University, including 3 years as the Towson University Alumni Association's president and 10-years as the Treasurer of the Towson University Foundation. Due to his efforts, in 2005 he was the recipient of the Towson University Spirit of the University Award.

In addition to volunteering at Towson University, he is also a past participant of the BJC Leadership development program and has served on other non-profit boards. In 2006, he was selected by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the top '40 Under 40' for his achievements, both professionally and throughout the community.

Outside of the office, Bryan enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and dogs. He can often be found cheering on his twin girls at various soccer games.

Christopher J. Blair, CFP®, CWPA®

Senior Investment Counsellor

Christopher J. Blair, CFP®, CPWA® was born and raised in Baltimore. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He began his career in the summer of 2008 as a retirement services associate at a publicly owned asset management holding company located in Baltimore. During his tenure, Chris held various other positions in investment operations and in compliance.

Chris joined VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC in the summer of 2014. In 2018, Chris became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional to better serve his clients. In 2021, Chris added to his skillset by becoming a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® professional. His responsibilities include portfolio management, college savings planning, retirement planning and estate planning. Additionally, Chris acts as a 3(38) investment manager for 401(k)'s and other qualified employer sponsored retirement plans. Chris works closely with his clients to build lasting relationships by providing clear, unbiased advice that puts their interest first. Chris instills confidence in his clients through disciplined practices and strong principles in order to help his clients achieve and preserve wealth. In 2020, Chris was selected by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the top '40 Under 40' for his achievements, both professionally and throughout the community.

Outside of the office, Chris resides in Baltimore County with his wife, three kids, and their dog. He enjoys spending time with family and friends; travelling both domestically and internationally; playing basketball and golf; playing music; and volunteering on the alumni board of Loyola Blakefield and around Baltimore.

Creg Hill, CRPC®

Chief Operating Officer & Assistant Compliance Officer

Creg Hill, CRPC® was raised in Baltimore. He graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics. He has been in the financial services industry for the previous ten years. Prior to joining VSM Wealth Advisory, LLC, Creg was a Vice President at PNC in their Wealth Management division. During his career, Creg held various positions in relationship management, portfolio management, operation management, private banking, financial planning and wealth management.

Creg joined Vansant Mewshaw in February of 2021. In 2014 Creg achieved the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation. His responsibilities include designing and implementing business operations, establishing policies that promote company culture and vision, and overseeing operations of the company.

Outside of the office, Creg resides in Baltimore city. He enjoys spending his free time with his friends and family, traveling, golfing, and boating
